Scooter Wheels

Whether your replacing one or purchasing a newer and more stylish set, scooter wheels are one of the most important things about owning a scooter. You can find the best scooter wheels by searching online or by checking the local scooter and motorcycle retail stores in your area.

Some scooter owners don’t think too much about their wheels. Almost certainly your vehicle came with a couple of wheels that you haven’t thought much about. In some cases, you also have a spare wheel that can be located in various places: On the front of the bike, on the rear, embedded into the engine cowling near the back, or even between the riders legs! Having a spare is great because it means that in the case of a flat tire, you can pull over, replace the wheel, and get on your way as soon as possible. Without a flat, you’ll often need to have your scooter towed which means abandoning whatever purpose you had for riding that day!

Some people are buying new wheels for their scooter to replace one that got punctured and could not be fixed. Other people are buying more stylish replacements for the current wheels in order to show the world their unique sense of personal style on their transportation vehicle. In the first case, you’ll want to make sure that your new wheel matches your existing ones in order to preserve the style of your vehicle. In the second case, you will want to find something stylish that both works well and physically fits on to your current scooter. The manual that came with the scooter can tell you the specifications for what types of wheels will fit.

If you anticipate ever using your spare to change a flat tire, it’s good to do some planning work beforehand so that in the case of a flat, you have done it before and can fix the problem with confidence. A flat tire is almost guaranteed to happen at the worst possible time. If you don’t have the confidence to fix your own wheel safely and efficiently, you can easily join AAA or another roadside service program so that in the case of a flat, you can easily call them and they will come and help you fix it. However, this usually takes longer than simply fixing the flat tire yourself. It’s a good idea to practice changing the tire sometime at home when you are not pressed for time. The manual will have good instructions for how to do it. Once you have practiced a few times, you will know how to do it quickly and with the correct tools. It’s important to remember to always find a safe place in order to change your scooter wheels as well: Be sure to pull fully off the road and ideally place your scooter between the traffic and your body.
